Remember that you can start the course when you have 4-4.5 years of experience since there is no requirement for five years of experience to take the theoretical exam.
If you are a candidate for internship, you must submit your application to the county municipality where you live within the deadline set by the county municipality.
- Registration for the spring exam is possible during the period January 15 to February 1.
- Registration for the fall exam is possible from September 1 to September 15.
Theory exam – how to proceed:

Before you can take the practical test, you must pass a separate theory exam. You register yourself via the link (BankID login): privatist.inschool.visma.no/ .

The first thing you should do is make sure that the registered contact information on file for you is correct. If it is incorrect, it MUST be corrected.

Register information about yourself.

Select subject code
For bus and freight drivers: YRK3103 (valid from spring 2023).
For other industries: Contact the training section of the county municipality if you are unsure which vocational code to choose.

Confirm registration and pay the exam fee (must be paid to register).

Check the status of your profile on the county council's website.

The exam lasts 5 hours. You are allowed to bring books and other materials to the exam. The exception is the internet and other means of communication.

The school you took the exam at will send you the results between one and two months after you took the exam. If you have passed, you can proceed to the practical exam.

When you receive the exam date, talk to your employer and submit a written application for leave WITH pay until the exam date and at the same time for bus, submit an application for leave with pay until the reading day BBA§ 5.6.3.

Practical exam – how to proceed:

Start the dialogue early with your employer about the desired time for the practical test.

Find copies of certificates that document for a full-time position: 60 months of internship experience. You upload the certificates as attachments that are sent with your registration.

The exam fee of 1037 NOK must be paid in advance. Check out payment methods in your county municipality.

You can now register (BankID login) for the practical test. You do this on the website of the county municipality where you live. Inform your employer.

The county council will check that you meet the requirements and have submitted the necessary information. You will eventually receive a letter in your digital mailbox.

The examination board will contact you when your registration is approved to arrange a time and place. In several places in the country, waiting times must be expected due to high demand.

Notify your employer when you have passed the practical exam, and give the company a copy of the confirmation of passing the professional exam.
Facilitation
You can apply for accommodations in the electronic registration form. County councils and municipalities may operate with different deadlines. You must familiarize yourself with the applicable deadlines for your county council and municipality.
For example, if you can document reading and writing difficulties, several adaptation measures will be considered:
- Extended time (normally 1 hour)
- Reading of the assignment text
- Written and/or oral planning
- Written and/or oral self-assessment
- Written and/or oral delivery of documentation
- Other measures (e.g. physical aids)
Remember that if you need accommodation, you must upload and attach documentation of this. Reading and writing difficulties must be documented from PPT, or another equivalent service. Applications for accommodation for other ailments must be assessed by a doctor, physiotherapist or similar.
