The strike action involves 193 members of REMA Distribusjon Norge AS and 44 members of Kolly AS. REMA Distribusjon is responsible for distribution to REMA 1000 stores across the country, while Kolly delivers food and drinks to more than 2,000 points of sale. A strike can therefore be quickly felt both on store shelves and in businesses that depend on regular deliveries.
– We are going to the Riksmekleren with a clear desire to find a solution. The last thing we want is empty store shelves and a halt in food deliveries. But then the employer side and the NHO Service and Trade Confederation must show real will to meet us. The key to avoiding a strike now lies with them, says Josefine Wærstad, negotiation leader in YTF .
A key issue in the mediation is the advance payment of sick pay. YTF believes that employees should not risk being left without income while they wait for payment from Nav. The demand is not about higher benefits, but about ensuring that the money the employee is entitled to arrives on time. Around three out of four employees already receive their sick pay in advance from their employer.
The mediation deadline expires at midnight on Friday, September 4. If the parties do not reach an agreement, the 237 members will go on strike from the beginning of working hours on Saturday, September 5.
