Breach in negotiations on the logistics agreement: Risk of strike

There is a breakdown in negotiations between Yrkestrafikkforbundet and NHO Logistics and Transport in the settlement for the logistics, port and freight forwarder agreement.

2–3 minutes

The negotiations began on April 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and were broken off on April 29, 2026 after a short time on day two. The parties were too far apart to reach an agreement.

The settlement is now going to voluntary mediation with the Norwegian Ombudsman. If the mediation does not lead to progress, there could be a strike.

Disagreement about safety in case of illness

A key reason for the breach is disagreement over arrangements that are intended to ensure employees' financial security in the event of illness.

YTF has put forward demands for tariff fixing of advance payments of sickness benefits, care benefits and parental benefits. These are demands that are intended to ensure predictable income in normal life situations, and which are common to several working groups in the agreement, but not to all.

The employer has rejected this claim.

Negotiator Kristine Martinsen from YTF says the breach is about employee safety.

– For us, this is a fundamental question of security. When the employer does not want to help ensure everyone has a predictable income during illness and leave, the gap becomes too large, says YTF's negotiating leader Kristine Martinsen.

She points out that this was one of the most important demands in the settlement.

– We have put forward demands that are based on the members' everyday work and need for security. When key demands are not met, there is no basis for agreement, says Martinsen.

Could be a conflict

The case will now proceed to the Ombudsman.

If the parties do not agree in the mediation, the result may be a strike in the agreement area.

– We want to reach an agreement, but that requires the employer side to be willing to move. Now we must use mediation to see if it is possible to find a solution, says Martinsen.

Working as normal

Until further notice, work will continue as normal for everyone covered by the agreement.

Members will report to work as usual until further notice.
