Skills development must be adapted to workers in transport

Yrkestrafikkforbundet has submitted a consultation response to NOU 2025:01 on competence development in working life. The union supports the tripartite cooperation and the need for increased competence development, especially as a result of digitalization and automation.

YTF believes that the measures must be adapted to the actual needs of the workers. Many in the transport and logistics industry have practical professions, and skills development should therefore be easily accessible, flexible and based on practical learning.

The union also points out that digital solutions must be easy to use, and that measures must take into account workers with weak digital skills or reading and writing challenges.

YTF stresses the importance of financial support, so that employees do not lose income by participating in skills development. The measures must be able to be carried out during working hours and at no cost to the individual.

The union believes it is crucial to build on existing expertise in the industry and ensure that workers do not fall outside the workforce in the face of new technology.
