YTF has been working for a long time to improve collision safety in buses. “The new measure from the Ministry of Transport and Communications is a step in the right direction, but we are afraid that the measure will become a cushion,” says union leader Jim Klungnes.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has introduced new requirements for collision safety (R-29) for new buses in licensed transport.
– We are pleased that collision safety has been put on the agenda. However, we are concerned that the measure may become a cushion. We see that this in itself is not enough to ensure that drivers have good protection if an accident should occur. With this measure, the side wall, the corner and the area in front of the driver are still not well enough protected. We have no bus drivers to lose, and will continue this fight, says the union leader.
