The proposal from the Ministry of Transport concerns the extension of the right of retention to also include hired ticket inspectors. Currently, the right of retention is reserved for public transport companies' own employed ticket inspectors.
Yrkestrafikkforbundet agrees that efficient operation of public transport is important, and that public transport companies' ticket inspectors should have the right to withhold. At the same time, the association is negative about extending the right of withholding to hired inspectors, and points to practical problems with such a scheme.
YTF points out that ticket checks can lead to heated situations and workplace accidents. The union is aware that this is a professional group that regularly experiences threatening and violent incidents in everyday work.
